Duet... by Remote Access?

Rachel came out two weeks ago, and recorded “Will You Hold Me On Christmas Eve?” (not a love song, despite the title). The only problem is, it is a duet. I tried a couple of different guys to sing the other part, and while they were great singers, it is hard to match the brightness and power of Rachel’s voice. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do.

But then... Garry came down from Montana this week. He had listened to the song, and told me that he could pull this off. I trust Garry’s ears like I trust my own, so of course I believed him. But the finished product was... wow! So much better than I expected! It was a lot of hard work on Garry’s part to match everything up. Don’t you think that is pretty crazy? Singing across time and space? Remember... these two have never even met! I was slightly tempted to put the song up for you to listen to. It is my favorite. I have listened to it now about a hundred times, I think. But there have to be a few surprises, and this is going to be one of them. As the old saying goes, we have to save a little something for the honeymoon. So please enjoy the other songs that are posted below, and wish me luck... in the next six days I will be finished!

Will you hold me on Christmas Eve?
Can we sit by the fire, underneath our big tree?
Will you tell me the story of baby Jesus in the manger?
Will you hold me on Christmas Eve?

Wise men and shepherds; angels so fair
Don’t leave out anything... make me feel like I’m there.
I know I’m getting older, but I still believe
When you hold me on Christmas Eve.

  1. I adore the title of this song.

You are a poet and a songwriter.

BTW did you know Carl Sandburg had a herd of Nubian goats?

He's one of my all time favorites. Thank you for the poem. I need to find one for you now.

  2. DK here. Well, I have listened to the song. And it is just as Cupcake described--it is now one of my most favorite. One interesting aspect: there is so much chemistry between the voices of the duet. It's hard to believe Rachel and Garry have never met, and the recordings were done weeks apart.

  3. Ok first off I LOVE those pictures of both of them. Secondly the words to that song sound beautiful. I can't wait to get to hear the duet in it's glory!

  4. Amazing CD. I found this 3 days before Christmas. This will be my after Christmas gift. It is beautiful.
